The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Commercial Banking Circle (CBC) Karachi carried out a major operation and exposed an illegal hawala-hundi network operating in the city.
According to the FIA spokesperson, the raid was conducted in Soldier Bazaar on the directives of FIA Karachi Zone Director Muntazir Mehdi and under the supervision of the FIA CBC Karachi deputy director.
During the operation conducted on the basis of a search warrant issued by a competent court, a suspect identified as Kabir was taken into custody.
The FIA said that various foreign currencies and digital evidence related to the transfer of money abroad through illegal hawala-hundi channels were recovered from the suspect’s possession.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 44/2026, while further investigation is under way. The FIA said that operations against individuals involved in illegal financial activities and hawala-hundi networks would continue across the country.
