PESHAWAR: Employees’ associations of the University of Peshawar have expressed concern over the non-payment of April 2026 pensions to retired employees and have warned of protests and suspension of post-Eid examinations if funds are not released immediately.
The decision was taken during a joint meeting of Class-III and Class-IV employees’ associations, chaired by Class-III President Abdul Malik and Class-IV President Imdad Khan.
Union leaders said retired employees were facing severe financial hardship ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, and the delay in pension payments had further increased their difficulties.
Participants expressed concern that, despite federal and provincial governments issuing directives for advance salary payments before Eid, employees and pensioners of the university were still awaiting their dues.
The associations said advance salary payments also appeared unlikely under the current circumstances.
They urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to release the required funds forthwith so that employees could celebrate Eid with dignity.
