CHITRAL: An alleged kidnapping drama involving a man from Upper Chitral came to an end after Rahim Yar Khan Police recovered and arrested him along with three accomplices.
According to reports, Nooruddin Zangi, a resident of the Torkhow area in Upper Chitral, had circulated videos claiming that he was being held captive by kidnappers. However, police investigations later revealed that the alleged kidnapping had been staged. Sources said Nooruddin Zangi had portrayed himself as a wealthy businessman and allegedly collected millions of rupees from lawyers, bankers, and other investors in Chitral by promising profits far higher than those offered by banks. To gain the trust of investors, he reportedly visited Chitral in expensive vehicles and even gifted cars to some individuals, calling them “valuable investors.”
He allegedly claimed to own gas and property businesses in Islamabad and, according to reports, used the support of several influential persons, including a self-styled spiritual figure, to build credibility through social media promotion.
The alleged kidnapping drama was reportedly staged to gain more money and sympathy from investors. Some affected persons approached Talha Mahmood for assistance, after which efforts were made to secure Nooruddin Zangi’s recovery with the help of Rahim Yar Khan police.
Police later recovered Zangi and his companions, but during the investigation, it emerged that no actual kidnapping had taken place.
