QUETTA: At least three people were killed and five others injured when unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on a vehicle in Gwarago area of Panjgur district on Friday.
According to police, the incident took place at Katagri, near Fateh Ali, around 40 kilometres from Panjgur city. The attackers, who were reportedly lying in wait, intercepted the vehicle and fired bursts from automatic weapons, leaving three passengers dead on the spot and injuring five others.
The deceased were identified as Juma son of Sadiq, Malik son of Ghulam Qadir, and Zubair son of Noora.
The injured were identified as Naseeb son of Wali Dad, Mayar son of Abdul Samad, Chakar son of Noora, Saboor son of Habibullah, and Shaukat (father’s name not known). They were shifted to nearby health facilities where they were provided with medical treatment.
Following the attack, panic spread in the area. Security forces and law enforcement agencies cordoned off the site, collected evidences and launched a search operation to trace the assailants. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack, while investigations are underway
