ISLAMABAD: The Special Olympics Pakistan National Games got underway in the federal capital with a colorful and vibrant opening ceremony, bringing together special athletes from across the country in a celebration of talent, determination and sportsmanship.

Chairperson of Special Olympics Pakistan Ronak Lakhani formally inaugurated the three-day event, which features athletes competing in a number of disciplines including sprint races, long jump and javelin throw.

A large number of athletes, officials, coaches and families attended the opening ceremony, while the spectacular performances presented by special children won huge applause from the participants and spectators alike.

Speaking on the occasion, Ronak Lakhani said the these Games provide an important platform for special athletes to showcase their abilities and talent at the national level. She added that the best performers during the event would earn the opportunity to represent Pakistan in the upcoming World Games. “We are making every possible effort to provide better facilities and opportunities to special athletes so they can continue to excel in sports and bring pride to the country,” she said.
