Major among five martyred in gunfight with terrorists in Barkhan

RAWALPINDI: A Pakistan Army major and four other soldiers were martyred, while seven terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy Fitna Al Hindustan were killed in Barkhan district of Balochistan on Wednesday.

The army and Frontier Corps commenced a sanitisation operation in the general area Nosham of Barkhan to eliminate terrorists, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement. During the operation, the troops engaged a group of terrorists backed by Fitna Al Hindustan and killed seven of them. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered on their person.

However, during the fire exchange, Major Tauseef Ahmed Bhatti (31), Naik Fida Hussain (36), Sepoy Zakir Hussain (32), Sepoy Suhail Ahmed (21) and Sepoy Muhammad Ayaz (24) were martyred. The sanitisation operation continues to eliminate any other terrorists present in the area. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in their separate messages lauded the operation against terrorists and paid tributes to Major Tauseef Ahmad Bhatti and four other Shaheed who laid down their lives while protecting the motherland during the operation.
