ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Secretary General Salman Akram Raja Wednesday claimed that party founder Imran Khan is being tortured and has lost one of his eyes.

Talking to the media outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan here, he said that today all the court doors seemed closed while the party founder has been in jail for 1,000 days. He claimed false cases have been registered against Bushra Bibi and all the cases including Toshakhana are fabricated, which were made on the basis of statements of government witnesses.

He emphasised that every prisoner has basic constitutional rights (but) there is a ban on meetings and signing of power of attorney. The health of Imran and his spouse Bushra Bibi is facing serious threats. Despite this, he insisted, the meetings of sisters are also “banned”; court decisions regarding meetings are not being implemented and only favourite people are allowed to meet.

Salman Akram said that petitions were filed in the Supreme Court but no hearing was being held; another political prisoner was provided with all facilities in jail. “We have tried all legal methods. Now we are putting our case before the people of Pakistan. Even during the British era, people used to write letters and books. The voices of prisoners have been reaching us from Tihar Jail as well. In no era were there so many restrictions as of today,” he regretted.

“We have no option left except to come on the streets. The judiciary has been abolished; judges have been sent to other provinces to punish them,” he maintained.

Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Latif Khosa termed the May 9 incidents a “false flag operation,” claiming that the attack on the corps commander’s house was a staged drama aimed at political victimisation.

He also criticised the arrest of parliament members and the silence of NA Speaker, alleging that the current government is a product of “Form 47” and has made life difficult for the public.

Senator Hamid Khan said that a new petition is being filed in the Supreme Court to allow meetings with Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. He expressed regret over the Islamabad High Court’s decision, saying that if a lawyer is not allowed to meet their client, how can legal proceedings continue?

Meanwhile, PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram, in a statement on Wednesday, sharply criticised the government for its indifference to the escalating security crisis in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. He likened the “hybrid regime’s” priorities to a lavish banquet held while the house burns down around its guests.

He said the recent Senate debate laid bare the grotesque disconnect between Islamabad’s power corridors and blood-soaked realities of terror-hit regions.

“While innocent citizens and security personnel continue to pay the ultimate price in Lakki Marwat, Bannu, across Balochistan and KP, the self-appointed guardians of the state remain obsessively busy polishing their thrones, perfecting political engineering and drafting fresh formulas to cling to power,” he remarked. The PTI spokesperson called upon the authorities to immediately shift focus from power preservation to genuine national action: resolute counter-terrorism measures, meaningful economic relief for the masses, restoration of democratic norms and institutional accountability.
