RAWALPINDI: A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of bail applications filed by the former prime minister and founder chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, in seven cases until May 21 without taking any action.

During the hearing, the former premier’s legal team appeared before the court and requested that final arguments on the bail petitions be heard. However, proceedings could not move forward due to the absence of the prosecution. The court subsequently adjourned the hearing and directed the prosecution to ensure its appearance on the next date.

The cases pertain to allegations of arson, violence and resistance against police during protests held in November and September last year. Seven separate cases were registered against the PTI founder at various police stations in Rawalpindi and Taxila.

Police have already shown the former PTI chairman arrested in these cases while he remains in jail.
