Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Police have escalated their offensive against drug trafficking during the first four months of the year. This intensified crackdown has resulted in the registration of 681 criminal cases and the apprehension of 707 suspected drug suppliers across the district.

During the operations, law enforcement personnel recovered a substantial cache of illicit substances, including more than 488 kilograms of hashish, approximately 5 kilograms of crystal meth, and 4.5 kilograms of heroin. Additionally, authorities confiscated over 4,500 liters of liquor as part of the broader effort to sanitize the region of narcotics.

The surge in enforcement has been bolstered by a rigorous investigative and prosecutorial strategy. Due to the high quality of evidence presented by the Rawalpindi Police, the judiciary successfully secured convictions for 64 individuals across 63 narcotics-related cases within the same four-month period.

The sentences handed down by the courts reflect the severity of the offenses, with one high-level trafficker receiving a 20-year prison term. Five others were sentenced to 14 years each, while 42 offenders were handed nine-year sentences.
