CHARSADDA: Central President of the Awami National Party (ANP) Aimal Wali Khan alleged on Sunday that a game was being played across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the provincial government was acting as a facilitator.

“Pakhtuns are being deliberately kept oppressed, and the province’s own resources have turned into enemies of its people,” he remarked.

According to him, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) faces no threats in the province, whereas parties like Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, ANP, and the police are being specifically targeted.

He expressed these views while offering condolences to the family of the late Maulana Muhammad Idrees, a prominent religious scholar and JUIF leader who was assassinated recently in Charsadda.

“The assassination of Maulana Muhammad Idrees was aimed at weakening us,” he said and added that that no Pakhtun, including religious scholars, was safe in this ongoing conflict, asserting that said no religion permits the killing of a human being.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, he questioned, “If a person is killed merely for praising a field marshal, what will happen next?”

The ANP chief emphasized that the killing of personalities like Maulana Muhammad Idrees cannot be the act of a Muslim.

He added that if the cleric was targeted solely for praising the army chief, it raises serious concerns and puts additional responsibility on the shoulders of the army chief.

“If a religious scholar is killed for appreciating the army chief, what steps will the army chief take?” he asked.

Aimal Wali stated that his party has repeatedly maintained that PTI, Pakhtun Tahafuz Movement, and banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan are interconnected, reiterating that they still stand by this position.
