ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that India is funding militant organisations involved in terrorism in Pakistan, warning that the current tensions between the two countries could trigger another conflict at any time.

“As far as the Indian element is concerned, unfortunately, they continue to fund organizations that are behind terrorist activities within Pakistan,” he said in an interview with a French television channel FRANCE 24.

Bilawal said Pakistan and India are nuclear powers and we have had five days of war and Pakistan emerged out of that conflict with an upper hand, both militarily and diplomatically.

Bilawal said Pakistan and India must engage in dialogue to achieve lasting peace in the region. He added that terrorism was not only Pakistan’s problem but also a challenge for India.

He stressed that sustainable regional peace required negotiations and diplomatic engagement between the two neighbouring countries, cautioning that further escalation would serve no one’s interests.

Commenting on the Strait of Hormuz situation, Bilawal said there was no military solution to the issue. He warned that if tensions between Iran and the United States reignited, the consequences would not remain confined to the region but would have global repercussions.
