LAHORE: Pakistan and Bangladesh on Thursday took another step towards enhancing bilateral institutional engagement as the Civil Services Academy (CSA) formally inaugurated the Lahore phase of a high-level Executive Development Programme for senior officers of Bangladesh Civil Service, aimed at promoting strategic leadership, governance reforms, policy innovation and professional cooperation between the two countries.
The programme titled “Strategic Leadership, Governance Systems & Policy Innovation”, is being organised under the auspices of the Government of Pakistan within the framework of the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor initiative, which seeks to expand collaboration in governance, administrative training, executive learning and regional engagement.
The opening ceremony was held at the Walton Campus of the Civil Services Academy, where a delegation comprising senior Bangladeshi civil servants serving as additional secretaries and joint secretaries in key ministries and national institutions participated in the inaugural proceedings.
Officials said the initiative had been designed to provide senior policymakers and administrators with an opportunity to exchange experiences, study governance models, discuss contemporary administrative challenges and explore innovative approaches to public sector leadership and policymaking.
Earlier in the day, the visiting delegation was received at the Walton Campus and provided a guided tour of the academy’s academic blocks, training facilities, residential infrastructure and learning environment. The delegation was briefed on the academy’s role in the professional development of Pakistan’s civil servants, including specialised training programmes for probationary officers, mid-career civil servants and senior executive leadership.
Following the inaugural session, the participants attended the first academic session titled “Ethical Decision Making & Values-Based Governance”, conducted by Ms Arifa Saboohi, former Director General of the Civil Services Academy.
According to academy officials, the initiative is intended not only to enhance professional capacity among senior administrators but also to promote long term institutional cooperation
between Pakistan and Bangladesh through sustained academic and administrative engagement.
