Pakistan women thrash Zimbabwe

KARACHI: Pakistan women sealed the three-match ODI series with a dominant 206-run victory over Zimbabwe in the second match at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday night, taking an unbeatable 2-0 lead. Chasing a massive 344-run target, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 137 in 39 over s.

Runyararo Pasipanodya remained unbeaten with 33 off 62 balls, hitting five fours, while opener Kelis Ndhlovu scored 32 from 51 deliveries with six boundaries. Beloved Biza contributed 29 runs and Lindokuhle Mabhero chipped in with 20.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana led the bowling attack with figures of 3-15 in eight overs. Syeda Aroob Shah, Rameen Shamim and Momina Riasat picked up two wickets each. Earlier, Sadaf Shams and Gull Feroza dominated the Zimbabwe bowlers from the start and made 189 runs for the opening wicket, the second-highest opening partnership in Pakistan Women’s ODI history. Feroza scored her maiden ODI century with a 95-ball 100, smashing 13 fours before being dismissed by Lindokuhle Mabhero.

Shams also completed her maiden ODI hundred and made 101 off 112 deliveries, striking 10 fours and a six. Sidra Amin then anchored the innings with an unbeaten 59 off 58 balls, registering her 15th ODI half-century. Fatima Sana played a quick cameo of 25 from 13 balls with two sixes and a four, while Aliya Riaz added 27 off just 14 deliveries. Ayesha Zafar remained unbeaten on 18 from eight balls to help Pakistan finish on 343-4 in 50 overs. Nomvelo Sibanda, Lindokuhle Mabhero, Christine Mutasa and Olinder Chare picked up one wicket each.
