SBP launches free sports academies across province

LAHORE: In a landmark initiative, the Sports Board Punjab (PSB) has announced the establishment of 16 free sports academies across all divisions of the province, offering training opportunities for boys and girls in multiple disciplines.

A SBP spokesperson confirmed that the academies will be open to both male and female athletes, with no registration or tuition fees. This marks the first time in Pakistan’s history that such a large number of free academies are being launched simultaneously, ensuring accessibility for young talent regardless of financial background.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi has instructed coaches to prepare for the launch, emphasising that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to nurturing grassroots talent and expanding opportunities for youth participation in sports.

The academies will provide structured training in a diverse set of sports, including Cricket, Football, Hockey, Boxing, Athletics, Swimming, Table Tennis, Badminton, Squash, Archery, Wushu, Karate, Taekwondo.
