ISLAMABAD: Aleema Khan, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan, on Tuesday urged the party to “play its due role” for early hearing of bail pleas pending before the court, paving the way for the release of her brother and his spouse.

Talking to the media at Adiala Road Factory checkpoint in Rawalpindi, she said Ahmed Niazi did not call PTI leaders and workers, he only appealed. “We have only appealed. If the senior leadership comes here, the organisation becomes active,” she contended.

She said 41 people were arrested from here two or three weeks ago. “They (authorities) let go the MNAs and MPAs but they do not spare the lovers of Imran Khan. At this time, Imran Khan needs treatment and it should be done at Shifa International,” she emphasised.

Imran Khan’s sister reiterated that they wanted to get their brother treated in the presence of his family. “He has a political party and it is the responsibility of the political party to put pressure on the court in this regard.”

She said the party founder and his wife have been in solitary confinement for seven months. “When courts do not work and the government sits comfortably, then this is how you put pressure and resist. The Constitution allows you to resist for your rights,” she maintained.

Aleema claimed “they” all were worried as their script was not working despite making all efforts and spreading lies and disinformation.

To a question about the One Constitution Avenue, she said, “I think Imran Khan had an apartment in Grand Hyatt which he had already sold. I also had an apartment and paid installments, but mine was cancelled and they also did not pay back my money.”

She sounded optimistic that PTI lawmakers will come here: they should all come and put pressure on the government so that our brother can get treated and his bail pleas can be heard and he can be released.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Tuesday said the well-wishers of the country do not disrupt the meetings. “If meetings (with Imran Khan) are held, the joy of Markaa-e-Haq will be multiplied.”

“The victory in the battle of truth was possible due to the sacrifices of Pakistan Army and the unity of the nation,” he remarked while talking to the media at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Road. He said that with the unity of the nation and sacrifices of armed forces, Pakistan defeated an enemy five times larger than it. “The enemy will now think ten times before attacking Pakistan, we were together against the enemy yesterday and we are still together today,” he made it clear.

Referring to Pakistan’s role in mediation between Iran and the United States, he maintained, “If we can solve the problems of the world, let us also solve our own problems honestly.” The country, he claimed, has reached a dead end, three organs of the state have become one while Pakistan is in crisis due to corruption and economic problems. The judiciary has not been hearing the appeals for suspension of the cases of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi for a year.

About reports of differences in his party, he contended that there are differences in big parties, not in small parties, adding, “Our focus at the moment is the release and treatment of the PTI founder and his wife”. However, he insisted that the release of jailed party supremo is a complex and serious issue.

“There is no chance of changing Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, the founder’s sisters are respectable for us. The party has also been instructed to maintain good coordination with the sisters,” he clarified. In the current situation, he contended the party has to put differences aside and move forward.
