Islamabad: Shifa College of Medicine, Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University (STMU), hosted a graduation and award distribution ceremony to honour medical students from Islamic University of Gaza (IUG) whose education was disrupted due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, says a press release.
The ceremony marked a significant academic milestone for the students, highlighting their continued commitment to medical education under challenging circumstances. To date, 13 students have completed their remaining medical training at Shifa College of Medicine, while 20 students are currently continuing their studies.
The event was attended by senior academic leadership, distinguished guests, and faculty members. The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Khan, addressed the audience and emphasized the role of academic institutions in supporting displaced students. The chief guest, Executive Director HEC Pakistan, Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq shared the perspective of HEC Pakistan on the continuation of the education of students from Gaza in various universities and institutions of Pakistan.
The guest of honour, Prof. Dr. Hafeez ur Rehman, acknowledged the collaborative efforts made to facilitate the education of students from Gaza and reiterated continued institutional support.
