ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi has recovered 80 acres of precious government land worth Rs6 billion illegally allotted to Bahria Town at Gulistan-e-Sarmast Housing Scheme, Deh Ganjo Takkar.
The land is located at the prime spot of Hyderabad. The management of the Bahria Town managed the illegal allotment and possession of land against a meager amount of Rs383 million which was also defaulted.
According to an NAB announcement on Monday, the Bahria Town failed to fulfill the terms and conditions of allotment, which defeated the purpose for which the land was allotted, i.e. establishment of a university.
The NAB Karachi unearthed illegally allotted land to Bahria Town Pvt Ltd. Accordingly, the matter was taken up with the HDA and as a result of efforts and intervention of the NAB, the HDA cancelled the allotment and possession with forfeiture of the partially paid amount by the Bahria Town.
