ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority has launched crackdown against illegal housing societies established in Zone IV of Islamabad, the CDA spokesman said on Monday.
According to him, various offices, including the site office and public dealing office, of the illegal housing societies — namely Shaheen Town on Lehtrar Road and Islamabad Green Paradise — have been sealed. In the first phase, the offices used for administration and marketing of these societies are being sealed.
These actions have been taken against the illegal housing societies for the unlawful sale and purchase of plots in violation of sections 49-C, 46, and 46-B of the CDA Ordinance 1960; Clause 5(1) and (3) of the ICT Zoning Regulations 1992; and clauses 40 to 42 of the “Planning and Development Regulations for Private Housing Schemes 2023,” enacted under the ICT Zoning Regulations 1992.
In this regard, the relevant wing of the CDA administration had repeatedly warned the public through newspaper advertisements to refrain from purchasing plots in illegal housing schemes and to ensure before investing that the society’s sponsor has obtained an NOC from the CDA after fulfilling all required conditions.
Citizens can also check the latest status and approved layout plans of housing societies on the CDA website: www.cda.gov.pk. The spokesman said: “The CDA administration has taken strict measures against illegal housing schemes and issued advisories to relevant authorities not to provide electricity and gas connections to these schemes. Furthermore, the sale and purchase of land and homes in illegal schemes has been immediately prohibited.”
The CDA administration has also advised the public to invest only in CDA-approved housing schemes. “A list of all approved and unapproved housing societies in Islamabad has been published on the CDA website so that the public cannot only avoid fraud but also be informed about the legal status of any desired housing society.”
