Charles Goodman, Consul General of the United States of America in Karachi, visited the Special Security Unit (SSU) Headquarters in Karachi.
During his visit, he toured different sections of the unit and appreciated the professional standards maintained by the SSU. DIG Security & Emergency Services Division Dr Maqsood Ahmed met with the US consul general and highlighted the continuous efforts of the SSU in maintaining high operational standards, ensuring effective security arrangements, and enhancing the professional capacity of its personnel to meet emerging security challenges.
He further stated that the strategic partnership needs to be built between law enforcement agencies and international partners to enhance security measures and operational capacity. The consul general was briefed about various sections of the unit by Commandant SSU Aamir Khan Niazi. He told that the SSU is 1st ISO Certified Police
Unit in Pakistan. The commandos of the unit are well-trained and equipped with modern techniques and weapons who are capable of dealing any untoward situation.
Charles Goodman expressed his satisfaction over the professionalism and preparedness of SSU personnel. During the visit, he awarded appreciation certificates to the personnel and officers of the Foreigners’ Security Cell for their commitment and exemplary performance in ensuring security at the US Consulate Karachi.
Senior officers, including Syed Tariq Mustafa, SP FSC Shamyl Riaz, SP Court Police Ali Mardan Khoso, SP Security-II Akbar Khan Niazi, and SP SSU Shoaib Memon, were also in attendance during the meeting. At the conclusion, DIG Security Dr Maqsood Ahmed presented an honorary shield to Charles Goodman.
