A 12-member high-level delegation of the Bangladesh Civil Service called on Chief Secretary Sindh Asif Hyder Shah in Karachi on Monday.
Officials said the delegation comprised senior officers 20 and 21 grades from various departments of Bangladesh, who are visiting Karachi as part of a special training programme. The meeting was also attended by the chairman of Planning and Development Board, secretary planning, director general of public- private partnership and other senior officers. The delegation was briefed on the development vision of the Government of Sindh, Annual Development Programme 2025-26, Public-Private Partnership initiatives, post-flood rehabilitation projects, infrastructure development, social protection, agriculture, irrigation, mass transit and urban service delivery.
The delegation was informed that the Government of Sindh has formulated its development priorities for 2025-26 under a comprehensive and people-centric strategy. The strategy focuses on resilient infrastructure, climate adaptation, rehabilitation of flood-damaged education and health facilities, improvement of agricultural productivity and value chains, strengthening of irrigation infrastructure, provision of clean drinking water, safe disposal of sewerage, improved connectivity between major cities and towns, mass transit systems for urban centres, poverty reduction and achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.
It was briefed that the total development outlay for ADP 2025-26 stands at Rs1018 billion. This includes Rs520 billion for Provincial ADP, Rs366.75 billion under Foreign Project Assistance, Rs76.17 billion under Federal PSDP and Rs55 billion for District ADP.
Under the Provincial ADP, Rs333 billion has been allocated for 3162 ongoing schemes, Rs67 billion for 473 new schemes and Rs120 billion for special initiatives. CS Asif Hyder Shah said the government is pursuing a development agenda based on public needs, transparency, sustainability and climate resilience.
He said that after the devastating floods of 2022, rehabilitation and reconstruction of affected areas remained one of the top priorities of the provincial government. He said the Sindh People’s Housing for Flood Affectees programme is one of the largest reconstruction initiatives, under which flood-affected families are being provided safe, resilient and climate-friendly housing facilities.
The Bangladesh delegation appreciated the development initiatives of the Sindh government and expressed keen interest in the province’s post-flood rehabilitation programme, public-private partnership framework and climate-resilient infrastructure strategy.
