Rawalpindi: The Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Amir Khattak visited the Raja Bazaar Beautification Project and reviewed the development and beautification works.
On this occasion, the Commissioner was briefed by the concerned officers regarding the progress of the project, cleanliness, installation of street lights, improvement of footpaths, removal of encroachments and increase in civic amenities.
In the briefing, it was informed that the beautification work is underway in Raja Bazaar from Fawara Chowk to Dingi Khoi, the overall progress of which is 74 percent complete. In this project, 60 percent of the civil work beautification work has been completed, while the transfer of Iesco lines is 95 percent, Sui Gas lines 95 percent, PTCL lines 98 percent and WASA lines 99 percent complete.
The Commissioner directed that all the works of the beautification project should be completed according to high standards and within the stipulated time so that a clean, safe and beautiful environment can be provided to the citizens.
He said that Raja Bazaar is an important commercial center of the city, its beautification and the improvement will not only provide convenience to the citizens but will also improve the overall impression of the city. He directed that indiscriminate action should be continued to eliminate encroachments and that the footpaths should be kept completely clear for pedestrians. Emphasis was also placed on making the sanitation system more effective and resolving drainage problems immediately.
Metropolitan Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) Chief Officer Imran Ali said that crackdown against encroachments was continued in all areas of city. ‘I am adopting zero tolerance against encroachment mafia, I have directed to registration of FIR against encroachment mafia,’ he warned.
