MINGORA: A ceremony was held for ending a longstanding feud between the families of slain Attaullah Jan advocate and slain Fazal Khaliq at the Wadudia Hall in Saidu Sharif where both sides formally agreed to peace.
Federal Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Amir Muqam attended the event as chief guest and addressed the gathering.
Leaders from various schools of thought across Swat, Shangla and Buner participated in large numbers, welcoming the development as a historic and positive step. Representatives of both families announced the end of hostilities and pledged to live in harmony.
Addressing the ceremony, Amir Muqam thanked both parties for their willingness to reconcile and described the agreement as a milestone for peace and stability in the region. He particularly appreciated the efforts of the Swat Qaumi Taroon Jirga Babuzai and its members for their tireless role in facilitating the settlement.
He emphasized that reconciliation and dialogue remain the most effective ways to resolve conflicts, adding that such jirgas played a vital role in promoting peace, tolerance, and social cohesion.
He also noted that globally, nations were increasingly turning toward negotiations and mutual understanding to settle disputes.
