ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Friday strongly condemned the completion of 1,000 days of incarceration of its founder and ex-PM Imran Khan, billing it as a blatant act of political victimization, totally devoid of constitutional and legal justification and demanded his instant release.

In a statement issued here, PTI Central Information Secretary Waqas Akram said the incumbent rulers are fearful of the PTI founder’s popularity and independent stance on national sovereignty, and on this basis he is being subjected to political victimization in an attempt to sideline him.

He alleged inhumane treatment is being meted out to PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, he alleged, and said the party founder chairman is being held in solitary confinement, while his family, lawyers, and party leadership are being denied regular visitation rights, which constitutes a clear violation of fundamental human and legal rights.

He expressed concern over various reports regarding his health, including serious apprehensions about his vision, and demanded that he be provided with the best possible medical facilities under the supervision of his personal physicians and in the presence of his family members.
