LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, in her message on the International Albinism Awareness Day, has said albinism is not a weakness but merely a part of natural diversity.

She said persons with albinism represent a bright aspect of human beauty and that ensuring their dignity and protection is a collective social responsibility. She said Punjab envisions a society where no individual is judged or considered inferior on the basis of skin colour, physical appearance or congenital difference.

Persons with albinism require special attention in healthcare, education and social protection, while efforts should also be made to address the issue of social isolation often faced by them. She noted that the International Albinism Awareness Day is observed to raise awareness about this inherited genetic condition and promote and protect the rights of persons affected by it.

Also, Maryam Nawaz commended the security forces for eliminating 48 terrorists during a security operation in various areas of North Waziristan.

On CM’s directions, citizens’ complaints were heard by CM Complaints Cell Chairperson Saima Farooq in Multan.
