Naqvi sets year-end deadline for FIA upgrade

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid a visit to headquarters of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to review ongoing efforts aimed at modernising the agency’s infrastructure and operations.

During his inspection of development work at both FIA Headquarters and FIA Academy, the minister directed all construction activities be completed without delay, stressing strict quality standards must be maintained. He was briefed in detail by Director General FIA, Dr Usman Anwar, who outlined the progress of modernisation initiative. Following the visit, Minister Naqvi chaired a meeting focused on institutional reforms.

Discussions emphasised transforming FIA into a proactive, technologically advanced, and citizen-friendly organisation capable of addressing modern security and investigative challenges. The interior minister set a clear deadline, stating upgrading FIA to meet international standards must be achieved by end of current year. He highlighted a three-pronged strategy for this transformation: improving infrastructure, adopting advanced technology, and developing specialised human resources. He also stressed importance of transparency and merit in all future recruitments to ensure institutional integrity.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Chief Commissioner of Islamabad and Inspector General of Islamabad Police, reflecting a coordinated approach to strengthening law enforcement and investigative capacity in the capital.
