Islamabad: The head of the burns centre at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) is facing police action as he was booked over the allegation of assaulting a trainee doctor with the involvement of other staff members.

The first information report against Dr Abdul Khaliq was registered by the Karachi Company police station on the complaint of Dr Muhammad Ibrahim. According to the report, the complainant alleged that he was subjected to violence and obstructed from performing his professional duties.

It added that the accused attempted to inflict serious injury using an iron rod and that several individuals witnessed the incident. Dr Ibrahim sought strict legal action against the accused. The registration of FIR came after a delay of around five months, following the orders of an Islamabad sessions court, despite the complainant having earlier approached authorities for action.
