Rawalpindi:Milk sellers in the city have unilaterally increased the prices of milk and yogurt on their own without getting any approval from the concerned authorities.
Following the increase, the price of milk per kilogram has reached Rs250 and the yogurt is being sold at the rate of Rs280 per kilogram. Thus, the prices of milk and yogurt have been increased by Rs30 and Rs40 per kilogram respectively.
Despite reports that milk prices have surged by as much as Rs30 per liter, the administration and concerned departments have yet to take any visible action, maintaining a notable silence on the issue.
On the other hand, residents have expressed serious concern over the sharp increase in milk prices, saying that milk was already in short supply in the city. Public circles have criticized the inaction, calling it a form of complicity, and urged the Food Authority.
