Three people were killed in road accidents involving trailers in the city on Wednesday. Two labourers were killed after being run over by a trailer near Landhi Hospital Chowrangi, within the limits of Quaidabad police station, on Wednesday.

According to police, the accident occurred between Landhi Hospital Chowrangi and Younus Chowrangi, outside a well-known tyre company, where a trailer ran over the victims. Their bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where they were identified as 25-year-old Arshad, son of Fazal ur Rehman, and 30-year-old Zamir, son of Nawab.

The police said Arshad hailed from Khushab in Punjab, while Zamir was a resident of Sanghar. Both victims were labourers. Initial investigations revealed that the two men had lain down under a parked trailer to escape the heat and fell asleep. Meanwhile, the driver, reportedly unaware of their presence, started the vehicle, crushing them to death on the spot.

Following the incident, the trailer driver fled the scene. A relative of the deceased Zamir told reporters at the hospital that he had come to Port Qasim with a goods vehicle and was working as a cleaner on a trailer. He had been married about a year ago.

At the time of the incident, the vehicle he was working on had gone inside a factory for unloading, while he was resting under another parked trailer when the accident occurred. The police said they had obtained information about the fleeing driver, and efforts were underway to arrest him.

Separately, a traffic accident occurred near Bhains Colony within the limits of Sukhan Police Station, where a motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a trailer. The deceased was identified as Ghulamullah. The trailer driver fled the scene.
