Mismanaged water

Pakistan’s need for clean drinking water has never been more pressing. The government has failed to respond effectively and in a timely manner to this situation, worsening the crisis. Years of neglect of the maintenance of dams, reservoirs and treatment plants means these systems are currently not operating at full capacity. Existing policies regarding the storage of rainwater and preventing the contamination of water during floods are inadequate.

As a result, individuals are forced to resort to using bottled water or alternative unsafe sources for drinking water, raising the risk of serious health problems. There needs to be an emphasis on sustainable water management, such as providing adequate infrastructure and developing long-term policies for managing water resources.
