Since 2025, Pakistan has pursued a quieter, steadier diplomacy with less spectacle and more substance. This approach has marked Pakistan’s response to tensions involving Iran. Instead of being drawn into rival blocs, it adopted principled neutrality and emphasised de-escalation. Behind the scenes, Pakistani diplomacy worked to encourage dialogue, caution against escalation and underline the regional costs of prolonged conflict. This low-profile engagement did not seek headlines, but it helped reinforce Pakistan’s image as a responsible neighbour invested in stability. At a time when global diplomacy is often hostage to domestic posturing, Pakistan’s recent record suggests a return to professional statecraft. If sustained, such diplomacy can gradually rebuild trust, expand Pakistan’s diplomatic space and reaffirm its role as a constructive voice in a fractured world.
