ISLAMABAD: The Tehreek Tahaffuz Aiyeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) Chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Monday agreed to further strength ties and adopt a common strategy towards resolution of national issues.

Afridi called on Achakzai, who is also Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, at his residence here. The two sides discussed a host of matters with the focus also on adopting a common approach in future on key issues.

Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Allama Nasir Abbas, National Assembly’s former speaker and TAPP Secretary General Asad Qaiser, Vice Chairman Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, opposition alliance’s spokesman Akhunzada Hussain and ex-PM Imran Khan’s lawyer Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry were also present on the occasion.

According to the opposition alliance spokesman, during the meeting, Imran’s Khan’s health and treatment, signing of legal documents and denial of access to justice, the upcoming budget, NFC awards, provincial rights, overall political situation of the country and cases based on political revenge were discussed in detail.

He explained that the meeting also agreed to adopt a common strategy to resolve national issues and further strengthen ties between the opposition. Afridi visited Achakzai’s residence on the direction of the party’s incarcerated founder chairman Imran Khan amid reports of differences between the two with regard to the decisions on holding public meetings.

Achakzai and other leaders of the opposition alliance were reportedly not happy over being left out when the chief minister announced to hold a public meeting on April 9 at Liaquat Bagh, though it was cancelled for different reasons subsequently in view of arrival of the key delegations from Iran and the United States.

There was also whispering when Achakzai stayed away from a recent public meeting in Mardan held by Afridi. According to the PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Imran Khan’s sisters, the jailed leader has mandated Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas to decide when to hold talks with the government and organise protests.
