LAHORE: Karachi Kings captain David Warner, who was named Player of the Match for his unbeaten 89, was ecstatic on his team’s emphatic nine-wicket victory over Quetta Gladiators in the 37th match of HBL PSL 11 at Gaddafi Stadium.

Warner acknowledged the Gladiators’ strong third-wicket stand but felt the Kings had kept the target within reach. “Look, we set the tone with taking early wickets at the start of the powerplay but it just got away from us a little bit. Those two batted well and put on a good partnership. But to bring it back to 196, I felt, was a very chaseable total,” he said.

He credited the Kings’ batting unit for executing their plans perfectly. “It was about going out there, trying to execute, and building a good partnership. I think you’ve just got to go out there and play the basics. I thought with the new ball on that wicket, one could have your name on it. We had a little bit of luck; a good start for me and Jason. But to play it out that way and win comprehensively was great, and now we have to wait with anticipation.”

Warner also highlighted the energy from the stands, adding a lighter note: “Hopefully the cheer squad over there can do a dance or something and make a little bit of a roar.”

With Warner and Reeza Hendricks combining for a match-winning 141-run stand, the Kings’ victory not only boosted their playoff hopes but also showcased their batting depth at a crucial stage of the tournament.
