LAHORE:A woman murdered her two daughters and a son in Ichhra area of provincial capital here on Thursday.
According to police, the woman confessed to the triple murder and said that her husband frequently taunted her about the‘legitimacy’ of the children, which led her to such a horrific act.She told police investigators that she had purchased a knife three days before the incident. She further revealed that she had also planned to take her own life.
The victims have been identified as five-year-old Momina Batool, four-year-old Momin Raza, and one-and-a-half-year-old Ume Habiba. Earlier, police had reported receiving a call on the emergency helpline 15 about the bodies of two girls and a boy. The children were found murdered with their throats slit.
According to Rescue 1122, a call was received regarding the throat-slitting of three children, upon which emergency personnel and vehicles were dispatched to the scene.The children’s father, identified as Ramzan, told police that he had locked the house and gone out. Upon returning, he found the bodies of the children inside.
Earlier, Punjab IG Abdul Kareem took notice of the incident and sought a report from the Lahore CCPO. He had directed the DIG Operations Lahore to ensure the immediate arrest of those involved, emphasising that all available resources be utilised for their prompt apprehension. According to a police spokesperson, senior officers and forensic teams reached the scene and collected evidence. DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza visited the crime scene. He said the woman stated that her husband frequently taunted her, claiming that the children were not his.According to initial reports, the children were killed with a sharp-edged weapon.
Meanwhile, IGP Abdul Kareem has taken notice of the incident of the murder of a mother and son during resistance in a robbery incident in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kot Madina, Khanewal, and has sought a report from the RPO Multan.
The IG ordered the DPO for the immediate arrest of the accused involved in the murder and said that all resources should be utilized for the arrest of the accused. Punjab Police spokesperson said that the DPO Khanewal, senior officers, and forensic teams have reached the scene and collected evidence.
