This letter refers to the news report ‘Pakistan raises $507m in 5G spectrum auction’ (March 11, 2026). Going forward, it is absolutely imperative that we establish one or more smart phone assembly plants in the country for the local market. We would like tens of millions of people to have smart phones to access 5G internet speeds at affordable prices.
Indeed, as more and more people use and embrace the digital economy, Pakistan will have a brighter and glorious future. More digital jobs would be created and trillions of rupees’ worth of commerce, business and economic activity could be brought into the tax net.
