ISLAMABAD: A destitute mother from Jatoi Tehsil in Muzaffargarh district has requested Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi to take action against the alleged extrajudicial killing of her two young sons in a purported police encounter.
Nazia Anjum, in a letter addressed to the CJP, appealed for formation of a judicial commission to investigate the killings of her sons Muhammad Haseeb Asif and Muhammad Tauheed Asif.
She informed the chief justice that on April 8, 2026, police officials from Saddar Alipur Police Station abducted her sons from Head Panjnad and later, in collaboration with the police of Saddar Khanpur Police Station (Rahim Yar Khan), killed them in a ‘staged police encounter’.
The grieving mother has termed the incident an extrajudicial killing and demanded immediate formation of a judicial commission to ensure a transparent investigation so that the officials involved can be brought to justice.
She stated that she has been serving in the Health Department for the past 25 years and that her sons had no criminal record, asserting that they were unjustly targeted. Moreover, she said that applications were submitted to the District Police Officer and other high-ranking officials, but to no avail.
