MINGORA: The scenic valley of Swat, renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, is now emerging as a vibrant hub of intellectual and creative excellence.

At the historic Government Jahanzeb College, a unique exhibition recently brought together innovation, imagination, and youthful ambition under one roof.

Far from being a routine academic display, the exhibition stood as a powerful testament to the creative potential of young minds. The halls of the college were transformed into dynamic spaces filled with models, prototypes, and research-based projects, each reflecting a journey from theoretical learning to practical application.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Prof Muhammad Kamal emphasized the importance of co-curricular engagement in shaping students’ intellectual growth.

“Books and classrooms have their own significance,” he noted, “but co-curricular activities refine students’ minds and nurture creativity, inquiry, and a spirit of exploration. The exhibition showcased a diverse range of innovative projects addressing real-world challenges.

Some students presented models of smart cities, envisioning technologically advanced urban systems designed for efficiency and sustainability.

Others demonstrated small-scale hydroelectric generators, highlighting the potential of water as a renewable energy source in a region rich with natural streams and rivers.

Particularly noteworthy were projects like flood detection systems designed to warn communities through alarm mechanisms when water levels rise and smart solar irrigation systems aimed at tackling water scarcity. One student explained that a significant amount of water is wasted in traditional irrigation practices, and their solar-powered solution could help optimize water usage in agriculture.
