RAWALPINDI: Authorities at Adiala Jail confirmed on Friday that Bushra Bibi, wife of former prime minister Imran Khan, underwent an eye surgery after experiencing vision problems in her right eye.
According to the jail superintendent, Bushra Bibi complained of impaired vision in her right eye, prompting the jail administration to take immediate notice and arrange an examination by eye specialists. Medical evaluation diagnosed her with retinal detachment, a serious condition requiring surgical intervention.
Following the diagnosis, doctors advised immediate surgery. She was shifted to a private hospital in Rawalpindi on the evening of April 16, where all necessary pre-operative tests and medical assessments were completed. The patient subsequently gave her consent for the procedure.
The surgery was performed by Professor Dr Nadeem Qureshi along with his medical team. After a successful operation and an overnight stay at the hospital, Bushra Bibi was discharged in a satisfactory condition.
She was then shifted to Adiala Jail. The superintendent added that her post-operative check-ups and follow-up care will be carried out in accordance with doctors’ recommend.
On Friday, following the eye surgery, the family members of Bushra Bibi were allowed to meet her at Adiala Jail, prison sources confirmed.
According to jail officials, Bushra Bibi’s daughters and sister met her for more than an hour. During the meeting family members inquired about her health and later expressed satisfaction over her condition.
