Ahsan opens two centres at UET Narowal campus

LAHORE: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Prof Ahsan Iqbal, inaugurated two national centres at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Narowal campus - the National Centre for Quantum Computing (NCQC) and the National Centre for New Manufacturing (NCM) on Friday.

Among others, representatives from leading universities attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Prof Ahsan Iqbal described the inauguration as a historic day for Narowal and a significant step towards Pakistan’s technological future. He said the centres, established under the Hub and Spoke model, bring together top institutions including UET Lahore, UET Peshawar, GIK Institute, LUMS, UET Taxila, NUST, and NAVTTC on a single platform. He emphasised that the centres will strengthen national capacity in emerging fields and boost research in quantum computing and new manufacturing. The minister added that the journey from Vision 2025 to Uraan Pakistan represents continuity in development and innovation, aimed at positioning Pakistan competitively in global technology.
