A judicial magistrate has sent a suspect to jail on judicial remand in a case pertaining to allegedly recording his fiancée’s obscene video and blackmailing her after termination of their engagement.
A National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency’s (NCCIA) investigating officer produced the suspect before the judicial magistrate (West) on the completion of his physical remand and requested his further remand till April 28 for investigations.
However, the magistrate remanded the suspect in judicial custody with a direction to the IO to submit an interim charge-sheet within the stipulated time. According to the FIR, the woman was engaged to the suspect and both remained in contact through social media platform WhatsApp. During the period, it said, the accused recorded intimae and private video of the complainant without her knowledge or consent.
The NCCIA said that upon learning that the suspect was already married and had two children, the complainant, along with her family, decided to terminate the engagement, adding that the suspect reacting adversely to this decision began blackmailing the complainant with the obscene video. During the raid, the suspect was apprehended and a mobile phone suspected to contain incriminating material was recovered from his possession.
