KARACHI: K-Electric Ltd has appointed Shaheryar Chishty as chairperson of its board, the power utility said in a filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday.
The appointment follows the election of directors at an extraordinary general meeting held on April 2, with the board confirming Chishty’s elevation at a meeting on April 15, according to the notice. Chishty had been serving in an interim capacity since March, when he was asked to perform the chairman’s functions during the absence of Mark Skelton.
He is the founder of AsiaPak Investments, an infrastructure-focused firm established in 2011 that has become a prominent investor in Pakistan’s energy and infrastructure sectors.
Before setting up AsiaPak, Chishty spent nearly two decades in investment banking in Hong Kong, holding senior roles at Citigroup and Nomura. At Citigroup, he served as head of Asia industrials and head of North Asia mergers and acquisitions. He later joined Nomura International, where he was
