LAHORE:Electricity loadshedding has resumed in metropolitan due to a 500-700MW power shortfall.

The Lesco officials said that City’s electricity demand is hovering around 2500-2700MW, but the supply is only 2200MW. To manage this gap, the system load has been reduced to 1800 to 2000MW through outages. The situation is linked to the decreasing power generation owing to low availability of RLNG and growing use of solar systems, which reduce demand during the day but increase it at night. As a result, Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) is struggling to meet the fluctuating demand, leading to unscheduled power outages. Urban areas are experiencing 2-hour outages, while rural areas face 4-6 hours of load shedding. The ongoing power crisis highlights the need for effective management of available energy sources to ensure a stable power supply. Authorities should address the issue to reduce the impact on residents and businesses. Solar energy systems can help reduce demand but require proper integration with the grid.
