KOHAT: Police arrested several suspects and seized weapons during the search and strike operation in various parts of Kohat district and the bordering mountainous regions of Orakzai,
Officials said the operation was launched in Lachi, Bazidkhel, Saddar area, Darra Adamkhel as well as part of Karak district in which hideouts of the militants were also destroyed.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Irfan Tariq, the operation was launched to maintain law and order across the division and to tighten the noose around anti-social elements. He said a comprehensive crackdown was underway throughout the region.
The operation was led by District Police Officer (DPO) Shahbaz Elahi along with his team. During the operation, several mountainous areas were monitored using drones, while multiple raids were conducted on suspected militant hideouts.
Police officials said a number of suspected hideouts in the hills were destroyed during the operation and several individuals were taken into custody, and a large quantity of illegal weapons was recovered from the houses of alleged facilitators.
Cases have been registered against the suspects at different police stations, and those arrested have been handed over to the investigation team for further interrogation.RPO Irfan Tariq said that maintaining peace and security in the region remains the top priority of the police. He urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious activity promptly.
