Schoolboy maimed in Kurram landmine blast

PARACHINAR: A seventh-grade student was critically injured and lost a leg after a landmine explosion in the fields of Nasti Kot Dindarkhel, a suburban area of Parachinar in the Kurram tribal district, on Saturday.

The injured boy was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Parachinar, for treatment.

According to police sources, the landmine exploded when the student identified as Deedar Ali stepped over it.

Following the explosion, he was rushed to hospital where doctors confirmed that he had lost one leg.

The incident has caused panic in the area; local sources revealed that this was the sixth such explosion in the same locality within a few days, raising serious concerns among the residents.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident. Local elders and residents have urged the authorities to immediately clear the area of landmines and take strict action against those responsible to prevent loss of life.
