LAHORE: The Azad Group within the Lahore Region Cricket Association (LRCA) has hailed the Pakistan Cricket Board Governing Board’s decision to introduce new geographical delimitation of zones in Lahore, describing it as a welcome sign for the further promotion of club cricket.

Leaders Malik Muhammad Aslam Dogar, Wasif Zaman, Bilal Muqit, Muhammad Khurshid, and Shahbaz Ali praised the move as a landmark step that will strengthen Lahore’s cricketing structure.

They emphasised that expanding the number of zones was essential given the city’s growing population, ensuring broader participation and more competitive cricket at the grassroots level.

The organisers within the group hoped this step will foster healthy competition and strengthening pathways for young cricketers. They further stated that this decision will not only benefit Lahore but also have far-reaching positive effects on Pakistan’s national cricket structure.
