KARACHI: Pakistan inaugurated its pavilion at Japan IT Week Spring 2026 on Wednesday, aiming to expand technology exports and build commercial ties with Japanese firms.

The delegation includes 12 companies offering services in software development, cloud computing, cybersecurity, fintech and business systems, marking Pakistan’s largest presence at the event to date.

The pavilion has been organised with support from the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and the Pakistan Software Export Board, in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Pakistan’s ambassador to Japan, Abdul Hameed, said the country’s IT firms were increasingly serving international clients and were seeking longer-term partnerships in Japan. He added that engagement would likely begin with smaller, project-based collaborations.

Japan’s focus on digital transformation and automation, including efforts to address labour shortages, could create opportunities for overseas technology providers.Pakistan is seeking to diversify its IT export markets and strengthen commercial links with Japan, where bilateral business ties have traditionally been led by manufacturing and trade.
