Startups recognised at FPCCI event

KARACHI: A prize distribution ceremony for emerging startups was held at the Federation House, where speakers highlighted the role of youth-led innovation in supporting Pakistan’s economic growth.

The event was jointly organised by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the Sindh Higher Education Commission (SHEC). Addressing the ceremony, Atif Ikram Sheikh said the initiative reflected a shared commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and supporting emerging talent.

Vice-chancellors and ORIC (Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation) heads from public and private universities across Sindh attended the event, where young innovators were awarded cash prizes in recognition of their business ideas.

Speaking on the occasion, FPCCI Vice President Saquib Fayyaz Magoon said youth-driven innovation could play an important role in the national economy. He added that FPCCI will support young entrepreneurs by facilitating startups and strengthening their linkages with industry.

Dr Tariq Rafi highlighted the importance of academia-industry collaboration, saying stronger partnerships were needed to help students transition into entrepreneurship. He added that the commercialisation of research and innovation in universities remained a priority.

Businessman Bashir Jan Mohammad said economic progress depended on modern and creative ideas from the younger generation, adding that the business community would continue to support and mentor emerging startups.The ceremony concluded with stakeholders reiterating their commitment to fostering innovation, empowering youth and strengthening the country’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
