Islamabad:The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) has said an injured leopard, rescued from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, is expected to make a full recovery within four weeks following comprehensive veterinary care at its wildlife rescue centre here.

The IWMB officials told reporters that the animal, initially believed to be female, had been identified as a male after detailed medical examinations. “All tests have been completed. With dedicated care, we aim for full recovery in four weeks and a safe release back into its natural habitat in AJK,” an official said, expressing hope of the animal's early return to the wild.

The leopard, estimated to be around two years old, was rescued last Sunday by the AJK Wildlife Department from a suburban area near Muzaffarabad. It was found lying along a stream in Pihalian village, around 35 kilometres northeast of the city, in a weakened condition. After being shifted to Muzaffarabad, initial veterinary assessments found no visible external injuries.
