Traffic congestion in Mardan has become a serious problem, causing daily inconvenience for residents, students and commuters. Key areas such as Bacha Khan Chowk, College Chowk and major market roads remain heavily congested, especially during peak hours. One of the main reasons behind this issue is poor traffic management, illegal parking and the increasing number of vehicles without proper regulation. Public transport vehicles often stop anywhere to pick up passengers, further worsening the situation. This problem not only wastes valuable time but also contributes to environmental pollution and stress among citizens. Students and working individuals are particularly affected as they struggle to reach their destinations on time.
To address this issue, the authorities should take practical steps. As there is sufficient space along many roads, their width should be increased to accommodate the growing number of vehicles and reduce congestion. Public transportation should also be separated from private transport by introducing dedicated lanes, which would significantly improve traffic flow and discipline. I hope the concerned authorities will take notice of this growing problem and implement effective solutions.
