KARACHI: MG Motor Pakistan has expanded its ‘Start Smart’ campaign, offering incentives on its plug-in hybrid vehicles as rising fuel prices weigh on consumer costs.

The company is providing discounts on its HS plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), along with additional benefits including a fuel card and home and portable chargers. MG said the combined value of the offer is up to Rs600,000.

A company spokesperson said higher fuel prices and reliance on imports were prompting consumers to consider alternatives with lower running costs. Pakistan imports a significant share of its fuel requirements, leaving domestic prices exposed to external shocks.

The campaign comes as automakers seek to position hybrid and electric vehicles as cost-efficient options, particularly as buyers increasingly assess total ownership costs rather than upfront prices.
