ISLAMABAD: Independent lawmaker Anwaar Ul Haq Kakar Wednesday said in the Senate that today Pakistan stands tall in the presence of challenges.
Taking part in the debate in the House, he said today is certainly a day of celebration for the prime minister of Pakistan, his cabinet, foreign minister and the entire team. His commitment, his lead role, which he has played in this entire crisis, will be remembered as a case study in diplomacy.
As far as the Chief of Defence Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is concerned, Senator Kakar said that he finds his (Field Marshal) appearance, his commitment as a manifestation of one of Allama Iqbal’s verses. The lawmaker referred to the last year when Asim Munir won the war (against India), this year when he established world peace, “a man who knows to fight the war with courage and defuse the conflict with wisdom. So, congratulations, dear sir!”
“You earned it. Pakistan earned it. It is not just an achievement for an individual, it is an achievement for 250 million people,” the legislator remarked.
Many friends, he noted, are wondering who won and who lost this war. The forces of darkness, the forces of disruption, the forces of destruction, they have lost. The force of light, hope, prosperity, progress, they have won.
And, he continued, Pakistan has been on the side of hope. “Yes, we will have many economic problems. Yes, we will have many other problems. Today, Pakistan stands tall in the presence of those challenges. As a day of prayer, we will celebrate it. Perhaps this is the best day of prayer and thanksgiving,” he said.
This nation, he stressed, its collective conscience, it is going to shape the order of a very big future. This nation is gaining self-confidence. It is going towards self-reliance and self-confidence. It’s a new beginning.
“My request is that the whole nation, whether they are rulers of the time or they are living here as a common citizen, come and take advantage of this opportunity and take Pakistan to the heights which is its destiny, which is its right…,” he concluded.
